What is Rolfing?
Rolfing a powerful whole body approach that works with the connective tissue to better align the whole structure. Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds everything in the body: bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, organs. As Rolfers, we work with the fascia but we are in essence affecting all of those structures.
Our histories, experiences, traumas, injuries, emotions, and daily activities show up in our bodies and often put strain patterns in our structures, which may cause various limitations or discomforts. Rolfing helps bring the body back into a more neutral, aligned state, which creates greater ease and requires less energy to function in gravity.
Although we hope to relieve any symptoms, Rolfing is not symptom or disease driven. Rather, we are working to invoke health. Working from a place of resource rather than chasing symptoms is much more powerful and possesses the capacity to bring about radical change.
You and I are working together to manifest the highest order of health and organization your body can receive and integrate in its current state.
"One of the things that you as Rolfers must always emphasize is that you are not practitioners curing disease, you are practitioners invoking health."
-Ida P. Rolf
